Family ADVOCACY services

At Millan & Associates, we specialize in supporting families of all faiths and backgrounds through our family reunification services, with a focus on anti-racism and anti-oppression. Our culturally diverse team of therapists provides advocacy and therapy with the goal of empowering our clients in the educational, legal and social systems.

This program, originally called Fihankra Services, was developed to help families of African-Caribbean heritage. Fihankra, the Ghanian symbol of safety and security, guided our mission to empower, teach and advocate for our clients. As interest in our services grew, we expanded our program to help families of all backgrounds.

Millan helps families combat all forms of discrimination, including anti-black racism, islamaphobia, anti-semitism, and other forms of bigotry and bias. We will support and stand by you.

Support with family reunification

If your family is involved with child welfare, our team of therapists may be able to assist with reunification supports. We can collaborate with child welfare and provide clients with tools and resources to protect, educate and strengthen their families.

Our main goal in these situations is to prevent the admission of children and youth into care, and return children who are in care safely to their family or kin, where possible.

Millan has a strong working relationship with child welfare. We partner with the community and child welfare to address the reasons for admission into care.

When children have been placed into care, we work to return the youth to their community and family as soon as possible. Our focus is on the safety of the children.
