clinical racial trauma training (CRTT)

Millan & Associates has been providing racial trauma training for over 20 years to health, mental health, education and agencies in community.

CRTT goes beyond the anti racism and anti-black racism training that some organizations receive. Clinical Racial Trauma Training is specific training for clinicians, mental health and health professionals that work in a variety of domains that work towards wellness, healing and optimal functioning in a clinical manner.

The continued violence perpetuated against African Canadians combined with COVID19 requires additional training and discussions. Millan & Associates can assist with clinically addressing racial trauma, signs and symptoms, ways to address the trauma, sustaining engagement, tools for non-black clinicians and healthy healing for black pain in addition to the clinical theory and history.

The stress response associated with racism and discrimination, like general stress responses, is inextricably linked to an individual’ s coping mechanisms (e.g., strategies, resources, cognitive ability, and personality traits). There are both psychological and physiological consequences associated with the stress response (Clark, Anderson, Clark, & Williams, 1999)” (Utsey et al 2002, p. 368).
