Family Mediation

Millan & Associates uses registered and cultural mediators to resolve and address areas of concern in a safe manner. Mediators are neutral parties, that can not provide legal advice. Mediation is voluntary. Millan can facilitate open mediation (the process is not confidential, the mediator has the ability to write a report after the conclusion of the mediation) and closed mediation (discussions are confidential, the mediator does not report to outside parties and information from the mediation can not be used in court with few exceptions).

Mediation can be used to reach an agreement. Our mediators understand the legal requirements and can facilitate mediation in a way that; is cost effective, reduces emotional harm through the creation of a safe space, focuses on specific issues, and facilitates a fair agreement.

Mediation can be used in a variety of areas to resolve issues in a multitude of situations such as:

  • Child protection

  • Custody and access

  • Divorce and separation

  • Family matters

  • Marriage and cohabitation

  • Relationship building

At the beginning of the process both parties will be asked to sign an agreement, which stipulates the type of mediation that will be used and the terms of the mediation process. Since this process is voluntary, participants are welcome to leave the process at any time.
